Images taken during a clean-up and plastic brand audit exercise in Nakuru, Kenya, on August 15, 2021, volunteers from Nakuru Waste Pickers association and environmentalists used Wastebase, a cloud-sourced data platform developed by Unwaste.io , a UK based social enterprise. The App allows environmental organizations and activists to organize, map and visualize data about plastic waste by linking the product barcode to manufacturers and brands to exert pressure on industries to be responsible for the end of life of their products. 

Report released on October 14, 2021 by Unwaste.io, said that 38% of discarded plastic bottles found at a clean up in Nakuru, Kenya, came from manufacturers based in the US, Cocacola leading at 44%. More info in the report can be found on their website.
